Using the right code
Use the SWIFT code shown on the recipient's invoice or account letter. Banks can publish separate codes for branches, currencies or business units. Before the first payment to a new supplier, confirm the account details by phone or a second email; fraudsters often send changed bank details from look-alike email addresses.
Banks in Brazil also publish these local identifiers: Bradesco asks for the beneficiary IBAN, full name, address and country; Field 59 must carry the IBAN, or the branch number, account type and account number with check digit, plus full name and CPF/CNPJ; Itaú asks for the client name, branch number and current account number (for further credit to).
