Wise USD account details not available: why, and what to do
Wise USD account details are not available when the address on the account is in a country on Wise's published list, which includes Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, the UAE and Ukraine. For business accounts, Wise also excludes US businesses with an address in Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, Nigeria or Pakistan, and businesses whose personal profile has an address in those countries or Ukraine. This guide sets out Wise's rules as published, the other causes, and the options country by country.
- Wise does not issue USD account details when the address is in a listed country, including Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, the UAE, Ukraine and the US state of Nevada.
- Wise states that a US business with an address in Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, Nigeria or Pakistan cannot get USD account details.
- A Wise Business account cannot get USD details if the personal profile behind it has an address in Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, Nigeria, Pakistan or Ukraine.
- Wise publishes separate lists for where it can be used, where money can be held and where USD details are available, and a country can be on one but not another.
- Where Wise USD details are available, ACH is free for most senders, incoming wires and SWIFT payments cost 6.11 USD each, and payments in other currencies are rejected.
- Helm provides USD account details to companies based in Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, the UAE and Ukraine, but not to companies based in Pakistan or Bangladesh.
Wise USD account details not available: the short answer
Wise does not issue USD account details when the address on the account is in one of the countries on its published list. The list includes Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, the UAE and Ukraine, and the US state of Nevada. For business accounts, Wise adds two rules: a US business with an address in Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, Nigeria or Pakistan cannot get USD details, and neither can a business whose personal profile has an address in those countries or in Ukraine.
It is a published eligibility rule, not a review of your application. The practical answer is to receive US dollars somewhere else: a foreign currency account at your home bank, or a provider whose own pages accept your country. This guide explains Wise's rules exactly as published, the other reasons USD details may not appear, what Wise still allows, and the options for the countries most affected.
Wise's three lists, and which one stops you
Wise publishes three separate country lists. Start by finding which one applies to you.
| Wise list | What it controls | Examples named on the list |
|---|---|---|
| Countries where Wise cannot be used | Whether you can register, log in, or send and receive money at all | Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen, plus the Ukrainian regions of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia |
| Countries where money can be held | Whether you can keep balances in your account | Lists countries such as Brazil, China, Hong Kong, India, Peru and the Philippines; Bahrain, Israel and Malaysia are listed for personal accounts only; Thailand is paused |
| Countries that cannot get USD account details | Whether you receive a US routing and account number | Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, the UAE, Ukraine and others, plus Nevada |
Sources: Wise, "Which countries can I use Wise in?", "Where can I open a Wise balance?" and "Can I get USD account details?", as published on 29 October 2026.
If your country is on the first list, Wise is not available at all. If it is missing from the second, you cannot hold money with Wise. If it is on the third, you may be able to use Wise for other currencies but not for USD details. China shows how the lists interact: it is on the list for holding money, while a business with an address in China cannot get USD details.
Where Wise does not issue USD account details
Wise's help article states that you cannot get USD account details if your address is in any of the places below. The article then adds rules for Wise Business accounts.
| Region | Addresses that cannot get Wise USD account details |
|---|---|
| Africa | Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Guinea-Bissau, Libya, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan |
| Asia | Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, North Korea, Pakistan, Sri Lanka |
| Middle East | Iran, Iraq, Syria, Türkiye, United Arab Emirates, Yemen |
| Europe | Belarus, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine |
| Americas | Cuba, Venezuela, and the US state of Nevada |
| Wise Business rule 1 | A US business with an address in Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, Nigeria or Pakistan |
| Wise Business rule 2 | A personal profile with an address in Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, Nigeria, Pakistan or Ukraine |

The second business rule is the one that surprises founders. A Wise Business account sits under the personal profile of the person who opened it. If that person's address is in one of the six listed countries, the business does not get USD details, even if the company itself is registered elsewhere. A US company owned by a founder living in Nigeria or Pakistan is caught by the first rule as well when its address is there.
Wise does not publish its reasons on the page. The list is separate from Wise's lists for other currencies and can change, so check the page on the day you apply.
Other reasons USD details may not appear
If your country is not on the list and you still see no USD details, check these published causes.
- Your country cannot hold money. Wise states that your address must be in a country where you can open a currency. The UAE, Egypt, Indonesia and Vietnam are not on its list for holding money.
- Thailand. Wise has temporarily stopped issuing currencies and account details for customers in Thailand.
- Nevada. Wise states that you cannot hold money if you live in Nevada, and Nevada is on the USD details list.
- India. Indian businesses receive USD through details whose funds are converted automatically to INR and paid to the verified Indian bank account; Wise states they cannot be used to hold balances, for regulatory reasons.
- Your business type or legal form. Wise does not support businesses involved in cryptocurrency, tobacco, adult content or other prohibited activities, businesses with bearer shares, or most trusts for new registrations.
- Verification. Wise states that it may ask for up-to-date identity information to meet regulatory requirements, and that you should follow the instructions in that email to keep using the account.
What you can still do with Wise
The USD details list does not close a Wise account by itself. Where your country is on Wise's list for holding money, you may still hold other currencies and use account details in them, subject to Wise's rules for each currency. What you lose is the US routing and account number, so US customers cannot pay you by ACH or domestic wire through Wise.
Where the details are available, Wise's own page shows what they do: they receive ACH and wire transfers from the US and SWIFT in USD from outside the US, ACH is free for most senders, wires and SWIFT cost 6.11 USD each, and payments in other currencies are rejected back to the sender. That is the service to replace.
USD account options for the countries most affected
For each country below, the first route is a foreign currency account at a local bank, because local rules are written around it. The table adds the key local rule and whether Helm can provide USD account details to a company based there.
| Country | Local USD account and key rule | Helm USD account details for companies based there |
|---|---|---|
| Nigeria | Domiciliary account; proceeds for goods registered on Form NXP must reach the export proceeds domiciliary account within 180 days (non-oil) | Available |
| Pakistan | Foreign currency account; export proceeds within 120 days of shipment; IT exporters may keep part in an Exporters' Special Foreign Currency Account | Not currently available |
| Bangladesh | Foreign currency account at a local bank, under Bangladesh Bank rules | Not currently available |
| Sri Lanka | Business Foreign Currency Account (BFCA); export proceeds within 180 days | Available |
| Türkiye | Foreign currency deposit account with its own IBAN; goods export proceeds within 180 days | Available |
| United Arab Emirates | USD account with a 23 character IBAN starting AE; the dirham is pegged to the dollar | Available |
| Ukraine | Foreign currency account at a Ukrainian bank, under wartime NBU rules | Available |
Sources: Helm country guides, which cite the central bank rules for each country; Helm. As published on 29 October 2026.
An IBAN is the international bank account number used to identify an account for cross-border payments. A BFCA is the Sri Lankan account that companies earning foreign exchange from non-residents may hold. The NBU is the National Bank of Ukraine. Each rule is set out in full, with sources, in our guides to a USD business account in Nigeria, Türkiye, the UAE and Sri Lanka.
Other providers publish their own lists. Airwallex, for example, accepts only companies registered in the locations on its list, and its list does not include Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, the UAE or Ukraine. Check any provider's own page before applying, and see our guide to Wise Business alternatives for the types of account available.
What to send a US customer instead
Without US details, a US customer pays your foreign currency account by SWIFT wire. Send the customer every item below in one document on company letterhead.
| Detail | What to give | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Beneficiary name | The company name exactly as registered with the bank | A mismatch can cause the receiving bank to hold or return the payment |
| Beneficiary address | The company's full registered address | Banks screen the address; Wise, for example, rejects SWIFT payments without the account holder's address |
| Bank name and SWIFT code | The 8 or 11 character code of your bank | Identifies your bank on the SWIFT network |
| Account number or IBAN | The USD account number, or the IBAN where your country uses one | A local currency account number sends the payment to the wrong account or forces conversion |
| Intermediary bank | Your bank's US correspondent and its SWIFT code, if your bank gives one | Many banks outside the US receive USD through a US correspondent bank |
| Charge code | OUR, SHA or BEN | Decides who pays the bank charges along the way |
| Payment reference | Your invoice number | Lets you match the receipt to the invoice |
Source: Helm Editorial Team, as published on 29 October 2026. Confirm the exact instructions with your bank.
The charge code tells the banks who pays their fees. OUR means the sender pays all charges, so the full amount should arrive. SHA means the sender pays its own bank and the beneficiary pays the rest, so intermediary banks may deduct fees on the way. BEN means the beneficiary pays all charges. For invoices that must be paid in full, agree OUR in the contract.
Where Helm fits
Helm is a financial technology company, not a bank. Accounts are held with regulated partner institutions. For companies based in Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, the UAE and Ukraine, Helm provides USD account details in the company's own name: a routing and account number that receives ACH, Fedwire and SWIFT, with EUR and GBP details alongside.
- US customers pay the company as they pay a domestic vendor.
- The company pays suppliers abroad by SWIFT or by local rails in the supplier's currency where available, with the rate, fee and expected arrival shown before sending.
- A named account manager answers review questions in writing within one business day.
A Helm account sits outside the home country, so it does not replace the local account that export proceeds must reach. USDC and USDT features apply only where local law allows: Türkiye's central bank bars crypto assets from use in payments, and UAE rules limit when a business may accept USD stablecoins outside the DIFC and ADGM. Helm cannot currently provide USD account details to companies based in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kenya, Nepal, Morocco, Qatar, Japan or South Korea. Helm agrees pricing with each business in writing before the account opens.

Why are Wise USD account details not available for me?
Most often because the address on your account is in a country on Wise's list, which includes Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, the UAE and Ukraine. For business accounts, Wise also excludes US businesses with an address in Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, Nigeria or Pakistan, and businesses whose personal profile has an address in those countries or Ukraine.
Which countries cannot get Wise USD account details?
Wise lists Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, both Congos, Cuba, Eritrea, Guinea-Bissau, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Myanmar, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Türkiye, the UAE, Ukraine, Venezuela and Yemen, plus the US state of Nevada.
Can a US LLC get Wise USD details if the founder lives in Nigeria or Pakistan?
Not if the business or the founder's personal profile has an address there. Wise states that a US business with an address in Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, Nigeria or Pakistan cannot get USD details, and nor can one whose personal profile has an address in those countries or Ukraine.
Will contacting Wise support unlock USD details?
Wise's help page presents the country list as an eligibility rule and describes no exception process. If your address is on it, plan another route to receive US dollars.
Can I still use Wise if USD details are not available?
Possibly, for other currencies. The USD details list is separate from Wise's lists of countries where Wise can be used and where money can be held. China, for example, is on the list for holding money while businesses with an address there cannot get USD details.
Does Wise give USD account details in the UAE?
No. The United Arab Emirates is on Wise's list of addresses that cannot get USD account details, and it is not on Wise's list of countries where money can be held. UAE companies can hold USD at a UAE bank, whose USD accounts have an IBAN starting AE.
Why does Wise not give USD details in Nevada?
Wise lists Nevada among the addresses that cannot get USD account details and states that you cannot hold money if you live in Nevada. It does not give a reason on the page.
What is the best alternative when Wise USD details are not available?
Start with your home bank's foreign currency account, which local rules are usually written around. Then look for a provider whose own pages list your country and that issues USD details in your company's own name accepting ACH, Fedwire and SWIFT.
How much does Wise charge to receive USD when details are available?
Wise states that ACH has no fee for most senders, while incoming wires and SWIFT payments cost 6.11 USD each. Correspondent banks may also deduct their own fees from SWIFT payments.
